We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI — via StarWars.com
Yes, it’s officially official, we have a title for Star Wars: Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and it’s simplistically superb! Why, you ask? Well, in my honest opinion, it’s soothingly nostalgic (in regards to both, the original and prequel trilogies) and rekindles that feeling of ambiguity that George Lucas is known for.
Yes, ambiguity, the obscurity that Star Wars was originally built on. There’s almost always a double meaning behind something said in the galaxy far, far away and the title, “The Last Jedi” is no different. And yes, sometmes it means absolutely nothing, and I mean, nothing. But still, I cannot dismiss Yoda’s last words to Luke in Return of the Jedi:
“Luke, when gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be.”
Take this line with a grain of salt, but at the same time, it’s hard to deny that these foreboding words haven’t come forth to fruition given this recent reveal. And yes, it’s just a title, but a title is nothing short of a mini synopsis of what the story is about. Also, another interesting tidbit was discovered by Hello Greedo. He placed the titles from Episode VII and VIII side-by-side to create this sentence:
The Force awakens the last Jedi…
Again, it might be just another wild bantha chase or perhaps, the answer we seek is not behind us, it is ahead…
Yeah, I altered Maz’s words a bit, but it just felt right.
Anyways, happy brainstorming on what the title means for Star Wars: The Last Jedi and as always, May the Force be with you!
